Can you see them squaring their shoulders? Marketing vs. Sales in an all out, no-holds barred, fight to the death!
As the CEO of Cherry Marketing, I face the battles of Sales vs. Marketing DAILY. So, I thought I’d send a quick blog to my marketing friends everywhere and attempt to define the differences…
Sales are all of the steps you take to convert a lead into a client. So, your sales model might look like an initial email introducing yourself to a lead, and setting up a phone call. On the phone call, you might set up a face-to-face meeting with the potential client. As you move through the sales process, your goal is to convert that lead into a client.
Marketing is sales SUPPORT. That’s right. We are the structure which holds up sales. We build the infrastructure, create the logos, brochures, websites, landing pages, etc. to help cultivate and convert sales. But, marketers are not typically sales PEOPLE. We are sales support.
SO – if you need sales support, marketing is your answer! If you have plenty of leads and need to convert them, sales is your answer.
Have a very, Cherry day!
